Digital Video Recording
using a DV-Camcorder with Adobe Premiere
on G4 DV Ready Macs.

TIP 01

Make sure you have latest version of Premiere (5.1c) and Firewire drivers.

You can download the following from Adobe's website:

FireWire DV Device Control 1.2 Beta Plug-in for OS 9, G4DV-ready iMacs
Adobe Premiere 5.1c Update for Mac OS

Update Premiere if necessary.

Install the updated firewire driver in Premiere Plugins folder and then open Premiere.

Make sure new project settings are DV-NTSC. 44 khz stereo. 740 by 480 pixels.

Plug the DVCAM into firewire port.
Put the DVCAM in VCR mode.
Open: Preferences/Scratch Disk-Device Control
Set Device control to Firewire DV Device 1.2
Open: Capture window. You should see controls for camera.

You can then do batch or single scene capture. While you are capturing the video will not play normally and will stutter. Your captured movie, however, should be fine.
