NEXT EXIT – PROGRAM NOTES

Atchley's clients have included The Coca-Cola Company, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Hallmark Cards, EDS, AT Kearney, Leo Burnett, J. Walter Thompson, The Institute for the Future, Apple Computer, Adobe Systems, Grocery Manufacturers of America, Pinnacle Systems, Broderbund Software, Intel, Silicon Graphics and Simon & Schuster.

Storytelling is something we have been doing since our ancestors gathered around a campfire. The stories and anecdotes we share with one another are the way we let each other know who we are, what we care about, where we have come from, and where we are going. Stories are how we connect on the most fundamental, human level.

Digital Storytelling uses computers to create media-rich stories and the internet to share those stories creating communites of common concern on a global scale. Digital stories are all about making connections.

Next Exit is an interactive theatrical performance created and presented by Dana Atchley. Atchley sits on a log next to a digital campfire and, drawing from a virtual suitcase of seventy stories, creates unique selections for each audience. Next Exit is in turn humorous, touching, surprising and emotionally resonant. It is an excellent example of the positive impact of new technology on the ancient art of storytelling.

STORIES DEFINE:

Who we are.
Where we have come from.
Where we are going...and
What we care about!
