When I was a young boy I was an avid stamp collector. I collected US plate blocks and stored them in glassine envelopes.

In the late sixties I rediscovered these stamps and, using the first copy machines that were available, began a series of altered stamps I called US StampMutations.

I also altered real stamps using a magnifying loupe and a tiny pen. I placed these stamps on envelopes and sent them through the US Postal system.
