VISUAL POEM
CLOTHESLINE/CLOUDPOLE–1968

In 1968 I created a limited edition of silkscreened prints called "Clothesline/Cloudpole" The image of a clothesline stretched horizontally over the green grass appealed to me. Here I planted a vertical cloudpole and created the illusion of a cumulo-nimbus cloud using word fragments built from the three primary words. The letters shimmered on the surface and various lighting situations would reveal more or less of the image. A related sculptural installation was also created at the same time.
